тепер математичне очікування сусідує з очікуваною цінністю. не можу збагнути, як так сталося

всі реготали з "непозбувної бентеги", а от мене жахають " очікувана цінність" та "типове відхилення". якщо перше - просто калька, то як з'явилося " типове" - ніяк не збагну. певному видавництву не завадить науковий редактор, бо такі перекладацькі ляпи - вже не вперше

що ж, одна неточність таки є

"війн" та "і те і те" сигналізують, що книзі не завадила б уважніша вичитка. а американський стиль автора деколи дуже дратує. але поки байки про статистиків радують

The book was too dry for me to read at length and so far it's very much focused on statistics.

What I've read I've found pretty informative but I have no motivation to read further.

Good to remember: statistically significant does not mean significant like we mean in life. It just means that the event is notable, but the effect on everyday life practicality may be of very small impact.

Interesting to read about to see how profound math concepts applies to everyday life.

Most interesting was about how percentages and negative numbers cannot mix, the law of large numbers, and applying linear regression wrongly. All these can affect how data is interpreted and misrepresented to the public.
