So far (after chapter 1), it's sloppy, inaccurate, partly misguided, confused, confusing and outdated.
Faulting a book for being outdated when it was written before Java 8 was out may seem a little unfair. And perhaps my expectations of getting a less time-sensitive book from such a generic title are unfair, too.
The other criticisms are still valid, but I hope it gets better.
If not, at least it seems to be short

So far this book is quite interesting. Introduces functional concepts through multiple code example varying from java, groovy and scala.
