Feeling like the longest book rn. I feel so bored.

Part 1 (Destiny) was pretty solid, albeit narratively reliant on its mythology to make up for a lack of urgency. Part 2 (Among His Own Kind) is a convoluted slog. Way to go from being interesting to boring.

DNF, wasn’t a fan of the 1st POV writing style. Wasn’t a fan of certain phases used to make the character sound casual. The world building and magic system was too difficult to grasp and understand.

A shame because this series felt promising.

Story Two

Difficult to follow but pretty interesting. Don’t vibe with the writing style but the characters, setting, plot and works building are pretty cool.

What a strange book. I’m really enjoying it but the writing is quite interesting. It doesn’t provide much explanations to things so you just have to accept it. It’s kinda like being dumped into a tv series in its later seasons when all the exposition has been completed.

Das letzte Kapitel... xD die komplette "Romanze" spielt sich off screen ab, bis auf ein paar Erwähnungen, dass ihre Liebe Schicksal ist etc wurde in den bisherigen Kurzgeschichten kaum bis gar nichts weiter entwickelt und dann will der Autor mit weis machen, der Prota stirbt fast vor Herzschmerz, weil sie im selben Raum schläft wie ein anderes Paar?? ...wenn es so wenig Räume gibt, dass die zu dritt geteilt werden?

Naprawdę tak trudno mieć partnerkę, która jest silniejsza/potężniejsza od siebie samego? Bo do tego sprowadza się powolny rozpad związku Antona że Święta. Bo ona powoli staje się silniejsza od niego, bo tak mówi przeznaczenie, bo za niedługo nie znajdą wspólnego jezyka

Będę miała zagwozdkę po skończeniu. Czyta się rewelacyjnie i sam konflikt dobra ze złem przedstawiony w odcieniach szarości jest ciekawie zaprezentowany. Wszystko byłoby świetnie, gdyby z tyłu głowy nie siedziała mi wojna na Ukrainie i ksenofobia autora :/

Miałam Łukjanienki już więcej nie czytać przez jego ksenofobie i popieranie putinowskiego rządu. Tylko dlaczego tego paskude czyta się tak dobrze?!

The ending of the second part was definitely unexpected, and made me grow in fondness for this book!

It’s just a shame that I can’t read it in its original language; as its translated from Russian. There are definitely some phrases and the way that sentences are formed don’t always sound right.

Although I’m enjoying the world and universe (especially the dark vs light aspect), I’m still finding that the story is jumping around a lot. Things are happening and suddenly you’re getting an explanation as to why this other thing is happening and why this other person is involved… The concept of the story is great but it’s executed very poorly.

The story is jumping around a little bit and the writing so far has seemed amateurish and almost childish, however the plot and universe is completely winning me over.
