Love the writing in this. This should be right up my alley: historical literary fiction, and it definitely is but hasn’t quite fully grabbed me yet but I’m planning to continue. Steve Donahue said it is the best thing Rose Tremaine ever wrote and it was on his list of historical fiction recommendations. And it was shortlisted for the Booker.
