Status Updates From Give War and Peace a Chance...

This book is, I think, the War & Peace of nonfiction (how very fitting that is), and I cannot express enough how much I enjoy it.

Whether you’ve read W&P, haven’t read W&P, or want to read W&P but don’t have time, this is still amazing. It’s a sort of modern W&P summary that also touches at the heart of W&P and what Tolstoy was really doing.

My favorite thing is that it’s written from a reader’s POV :)

Working my reading mojo to tackle War and Peace. I have the audio and the print--both in the same translation so the piece are there but I need a little more motivation. I do love Russian books and have read much of Tolstoy already but this is my must for 2026. Stumbled on this book at the library and its really giving me what I need.

It’s a master class… it will make me seem so much smarter than I am 🤣 and honestly, I’m okay with that illusion!

A friend asked me if I’m enjoying war and peace or just checking off a box. I didn’t have to think for more than a second, and the reason why I’m enjoying it so much is because of this book.

I wondered what Tue chapter in love would be like - I mean the characters love is a mess - but to learn about Tolstoy’s cray cray life makes it come to clarity. 🤣

This is the perfect companion to W&P - scratching my itch for more - nobody I am with regularly will allow me to finish any sentence that starts with …”In war and …”

And so I am having my own private book club 🤣
