this is more personal preference than like objective complaint and it MUST be popular since i cannot seem to get away from it but i am so tired of these recent and like more topic-specific and meant for a broader audience type of history books all being just SO focused on being quirky. i hate it and it seems to be especially popular with medical and sexual history which i love so it’s driving me insane.
