Finally getting another book off my physical TBR

So far the book is trilling and exciting and can’t wait to see what happens next

I really injoyed this book and Alen Grazz is such a writer he knows what he is writing about.

two reasons I lovr the books Alen Graz creates is they are based off of real things that happened and I just is so enjoyable!!!

Characterization: We learn about Yanek, when the author talks about how malnourished he looks, and feels. Also when the Nazis take him to take a shower, We learn that he just gives up, because he thinks he's going to get gassed by them because that's what most commonly happens you you get a "shower". These are both examples of characterization, because we get a better understanding of Yanek when the author uses them.

One thing that stood out to me in my book is when Yanke got to a camp and people got put into a "Gas chamber," but it was actually a show, and that shows me how Jewish people were treated by nazis.

Antagonist: the antagonists in my book are the Germans/ Consentration camp workers. They are trying to get rid of all of the Jews in all of Europe by either gassing them, or just working them to death. In this case for Yanek, they have sent him to 7 different camps in 3 years and forcing him to work to death. He's seen many of his bunk mates die and also his whole family was killed or worked to death at the camps.

In my book, Yanek, a Jewish kid living in the 1940s, has been dealing with a lot of sadness, and I'm noticing that his mentality is very survivalist; he's getting mad about little things because he realizes that the little things aren't gonna be there when they're most needed.

My character had his bar mitzvah, and his family and himself got captured by the Nazis and are being taken to a concentration camp.

In the book he is on his death march. And this means that the soldiers are making them walk until they die. But there is also a war going on and I think yanek knows that he has to stay alive, I say this because The USA is coming to save them.

After yanek turns 13 and has his bar mitzvah he now turns into a man. And now he has to protect his family from the german soldiers. And at the end of the chapter he is hiding from the german soldiers and he thinks he saw his mom and dad in line from the camps.

After the german soldiers game into their ghetto yanek is trying to protect his family. And also he is trying to survive and not get taken away to the consecration camps.

What is going to happen to yanek in the next chapters coming up in the book.

My son is just getting into WW2 historical novels and I thought I'd introduce him to Alan Gratz. This probably wasn't the right book to start with. It's gritty and real and probably not what I would have chosen for my 10-year-old if I'd known anything about it except the author. Now we're so far into it that it doesn't feel right to DNF but we're both ready to leave this one behind.

the first two chapters were hard to get through, but i'm starting to like the book!

This is a powerful book. My son read it first and recommended it to me… and wow. It’s touching and vile and cruel and beautifully written.

I forgot about this book for a minute….it’s due on the 27th and I’m honestly probably not gonna finish but still get a good grade on my assignments for it like the rest of them. Idk what we’ll be doing for our final project though so I hope it isn’t bad
