Jason Sperb's study is the definitive account of the importance of Paul Thomas Anderson and solidifies the scholarly trajectory for future work on Anderson as an auteur. Even more important is the reality that Sperb has found a way to expand auteur theory and thud study offers a fruitful model for future discussions of auteurism in other director's body of work. Book is insightful, and a sheer pleasure to read.
