Interesting, but significantly less approachable than the other NT Wright books I’ve read. Probably due to the fact that the book is based on a series of lectures he gave at Harvard. Not really catered to us small brainz.

“From knowing, then, to speaking. As Paul says, we are to speak the truth in love. This is not simply to be taken as a reminder that, when we tell one another the truth, we should do so lovingly. It means, rather, that the truth which we are called on to speak, as followers of Jesus, is a truth which grows out of that which is known only by love, and which can therefore only be spoken out of that same love.”

“That is the context, incidentally, in which I find I cannot be a full-blown pacifist. Within the world the way it is, some policing will always be necessary; policing will sometimes involve restraint; restraint will sometimes involve violence. Not to admit this is to risk colluding with the bullies who are waiting in the wings for good people to remove controls.”
