Status Updates From Colonies in Space

Chapter 12: Interesting to read about how to shield the colony from radiation.

Chapter 11: Leisure time at the colony, and the author goes straight to zero g sex, which I suppose would have been disappointing if he hadn't mentioned. It is also fun to see the struggles with media entertainment from this 70s view, when today there would be no problem getting Netflix and Spotify at the colony. In a previous chapter he mentioned newspapers and magazines, today unecessary with digital solutions.

Chapter 9: Interesting chapter on food production in space. He mentions it being unefficient, but still spends time trying to get cattle on the colony. Totally unecessary when he already have rabbits, chicken, goats and fish swimming in low gravity humid air. His argument is morale based, but he does not mention the methane issue with cattle, it would be interesting to know how it would affect the colony.

Chapter 4: Started by complaining about a book that got a lot of attention even though the results in it was yet to be peer-reviewed. Continued presenting numbers from other similar studies with slight differences without mentioning wether they had been peer-reviewed or not. Also in the year 2020 we were supposed to see about 6 million people moving to the space colonies, I must have missed it 😉
