The book overall was interesting and impactful. I don’t particularly like books that end suddenly, but this is different because it’s a current biography (he’s not dead yet, thankfully) I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a feel good story that actually happened! I would advise younger readers that it has racism, mention of sexual assault and other adult topics.

Good, Anh has just briefed about his acting and Tv career. Fun fact: Mel Gibson’s company ‘Icon’ sponsored Anh’s Footy Legends show.

Anh has gotten married to uni mate Susie, she has quite lawyering and is travelling with him to comedy gigs. He has outlined his highlights and not so highlighted moments.

Ok…. It’s not normally what I would read.

Any Do seems to have the best attitude to getting through the crappy bits of life and finding the good in others. His wider family sound incredible. I think I’d love to meet them all. Snippets of insights and life stories that flow along well. Clever.

I cannot explain how much emotion the third chapter brought on. These tales feel like a bad movie. The fact that they are true stories that people have lived through and persevered through is utterly heartbreaking. I don't understand the human spirit sometimes. So inspiring but so sad. I am just so lucky to be born free in a country with so much opportunity.

Ah I’m a bit over this book now. It was published in 2010 and some bits have not aged well 😅

I love this book already

Devastating. His incredible, resilient family are amazing. Only just read to being rescued en route. Every refugee-NIMBI in Aust should read (or listen to) this. Get a bit of perspective.

I expect a lot from a memoir and tend to rate them low - many just tell the story instead of showing it and I find it tedious. For now I am not loving this one but am still hopeful.

Only a couple of chapters in but this is an awesome read…
