Yeah, I can see why teachers love this. I found it clunky in the beginning and thought footnotes would have gone a long way (i.e. "[Character] went to the [object] to [verb]. An [object] was a device used for [verb].... Having finished [verb], [character] went down to... in the [Proper noun]'s hall. A [Proper noun] is a person who...").
