Coda is very good. Was not in love with the plot of the whole back half of the book tho tbh.

I have such mixed feelings about this back half, man.

There are still some aspects of the “plot” especially in the back half that I can’t say I’m particularly in love with, but I appreciate the thematic depth that Russell imbues into it all still. The beautiful moments are still utterly remarkable.

Didn’t get as much read early this morning as I planned but once again, so many topical things are handled so fucking well be Russell it’s astounding. Much of the most incredible thematic writing I’ve ever read comes from this and The Sparrow.

Not gonna lie, there are a couple parts of this one (mostly technical cultural stuff in some the Rakhat material) that aren't really hitting for me, making a random chapter here and there (like 1 out of every 6 or so?) just kind of a slog to get through.

I still absolutely love a lot of the theological thematic stuff, and it's cool that the scope of that is changing too. We'll see what the rest brings, I guess.
