Heartbreaking, can see why McCauley was so guarded in the film. Beautiful.

Lowkey not sure how they’ll do this in one movie, will have to cut a lot from it… although not a lot of it seems very cuttable. But I trust Michael Mann.
Stephen Graham should play Wardell tho💯

Came dangerously close to crying (and throwing up) in front of Kari’s parents while reading this part. This book is unbelievable

My heart is racing this is so crazy, plz make this movie Michael Mann. Also Kari’s mom was playing a classic Michael Mann esque song from the kitchen while I was reading one of the scenes and I felt like I had been transported to the future and I was watching Heat 2

Still loving it, Paraguay chapter with Chris in 96 felt like a different book entirely, so good!

I’m actually obsessed with the idea for this book, and I think more directors should just write crazy sequel/prequels featuring their awesome characters. Let’s get Luca to submit an outline for what happened to Patrick Zweig’s tennis career after challengers

It’s a crime that we can’t time travel and have al Pacino play younger Vincent in Heat 2

Can’t get enough of reading Detective Hanna’s lines in Al Pacino’s voice.

I am 65 pages into this book and I’m really wanting Michael Mann to consider doing Heat 3, 4, and 5. Let’s James Cameron Avatar this shit Mr. Mann!

Is it a great work of art? Perhaps not.
Does it have Michael Mann thief jargon and Pacino’s character popping off every couple pages?
Yeah, brother! Yeah it does!

This is too funny lmao:
Hanna leans down into Alex's face and grabs the crucifix in his right ear and rips it out through the lobe.
"Asshole!" Hanna shouts. "What the fuck do you think we're gonna do? You are gonna flip, you cocksucker!"
Jerks Alex's chin up, shoves forward the cross. "The power of Christ commands you! I am your motherfucking exorcist. Tell me!"”

I was scared to pick it up, because sequels usually suck, but it’s every bit as good as Heat 1 (we saying Heat 1 Heat 2 now? What a time to be alive!). Heck, it’s better. They’re going to have a hard time matching this level of artistic finesse in the film version. Real hard time. I’m willing to bet this book will overshadow the film.

This book is written almost like a screenplay. Pretty great so far.
