Toni... I'm noticing a theme

I've made it about half way but just can't go on. I think I need to start with a female centric Toni Morrrison one instead of this one. I may or may not finish.

The audiobook is read by Toni Morrison herself, which is beautiful. But it is so lyrical and entrancing it lulls me into a hypnotic state and I experience the story like a dream.... then can't remember what is happening.
