I skipped ahead to the section about living and coping with IBS, as the pharmaceutical treatment information is outdated.

I think I want to obtain the UK version of this book (which is by a different author) to see if it uses the words "toxin" and "chemical" (as in "bad thing") any less. I'm also very unimpressed by the claims about MSG and the use of the racist term "Chinese restaurant syndrome." As well as the use of the naturalistic fallacy and the (also racist) "don't eat anything you can't pronounce" guideline.

Okay the thiomersal scaremongering about vaccines is total BS and I also call BS on their claim that my dental fillings are giving off mercury vapor whenever I chew.

I'm reading the 2009 ebook edition and am very unimpressed by the positive regard for Andrew Wakefield's MMR vaccine paper (the one that was retracted in 2010 but had been thoroughly exposed as fraudulent and unethical long before then). The authors also give dietary recommendations in similar moralistic language ("sugar=bad") that I used when I was at the height of my orthrorexia. They use the word "toxin" a lot.
