Status Updates From Medusa's Desire (Fate of Er...

I like Medusa's backstory, but this intro to Perseus seems weird. He's just too okay with everything.

Torn between memories of the woman she used to be and the monster she was forced into being, Medusa has few real options.
In the end it is love that keeps the rage and violence in check but love presents its own challenges and is not a guarantee...

I liked that Ms. Black created a romantic relationship between Medusa & Perseus. I also enjoyed how she played w/ various aspects of Greek mythology. This is a love story even if it's not a "romance" by genre standards re: the typical HEA. Medusa's choices as well as the depth of her sacrifices both moved & saddened me. But let me be clear that the author does give the reader a glimpse of hope in this unique tale...

"Let's leave our future to the fates."
I'm struggling with some of the logic here based on previous arguments that were put forth about why Medusa could never be Queen. Those things still hold true so any potential declaration from Perseus could still end in total slaughter if "the fates decide" in Medusa's favour. I get why they wish to end the "charade" but something about this 'solution' is a bit off for me...

It has been quite the journey with Medusa & Perseus as lovers on the run from the potential wrath of the Gods.
I find the characters & their behaviour frustrating at times but this is a creative tale all the same.
Medusa goes back & forth between her fears, insecurities & a newly discovered sense of her murderous power.
Her love & fear of losing Perseus keeps her in check, but for how long remains to be seen...

Raped by an indifferent God. Punished by a Goddess for that violation in her sacred temple.
Turned into a creature reviled & exiled w/ an appearance that kills.
One has to ask who the real monsters are here?

Athena smiled. "Good plan. It would be unwise to give [them] to Poseidon anyway. Their presence would be a slap in the face & a reminder that he slept with the wrong woman. All along it should have been me. He wants nothing to do with her now."
Of course that asshole felt that way now. He didn't care how she suffered as long as he didn't suffer any consequences for his actions.
The world faded as Medusa saw red...

"My parents kicked me out of the house."
"I'm so sorry." [Cithara] stroked Medy's hair.[...] "This was all my idea. It's my fault this happened to you."
"Don't say that. I didn't have to agree to it. Besides, this whole thing has taught me who will really be there for me when I need them."
"You're the closest thing to a sister I have, which is why I refuse to let you stay in the brothel your first night[...]"
