Jack Pumpkinhead has become quite a coward. The Woggle Bug is an interesting addition to the party. Thoroughly educated! Haha!

What a funny war. Victory to the Army of Revolt! I was a little offended when the Guardian of the Gate told the girls to go home, milk the cows and bake the bread but I guess it was the norm back then!

The powder that brings things to life sure is useful.

Book #2, no Dorothy (*cries sadly*) let's go!

There are some pretty funny scenes in this book. I don't if Baum is trying to make a political point or just being silly. But I was LOLing at times.

I think I know who Ozma is!!! :) I feel smart (yes, I know this is a children's book, don't judge me ;P).

Are we gonna go find Ozma? I THINK WE ARE!!! :D

I love General Ginger more than life itself! :D

What a joy to revisit a childhood favorite and find it as charming as I remembered it. Not as well-known as the original, I always liked this one best.

Interesting, and different.

Much more descriptive than the first book. Full of adventure and more humor. The plot is simple, but hey it's a children's book. Very imaginative and I find myself growing to love the land of Oz.

I'm not enjoying this as much as the first book. It's interesting. And helps explain Return to Oz the movie

Reading aloud to the kids. So far, so good. They are all interested. Noticeably better than the last book already.

Kind of a slow read! Or maybe it's just me. Been in a book slump lately.

So ends the second book in my Oz reread. I don't know why, but I've always loved this cast of characters more than Dorothy's crew. The Sawhorse, Jack Pumpkinhead, and the Wogglebug are some of my all-time favorites. I don't think I got the Wogglebug's puns as a kid, nor did I pick up on the MAJOR gender issues going on. The women of Oz revolt to get out of the kitchens and must be stopped!
