"We are revolting!" "It doesn't look it." hahaha an army of 400 women rebelling with knitting needles and trying to take over the Emerald City to make its jewels into bracelets. I did not remember this at all.

Maybe I should put this on pause. The Pumpkinhead is whiny.

Pretty cool so far, I love how Baum says so many things about his characters... but never out loud, always implying it. Like the fact that Pip, like Dorothy, may be the leader of the group, but remains the one that has the most left to learn...

"My smile, is worthy of your best attention. It is always the same." -Jack Pumpkinhead "And I," declared the Sawhorse, filling in an awkward pause, "am only remarkable because I can't help it." --- I couldn't stop laughing for a while after reading Baum's satirical lines.

Wow, I must say, that was a really, really weird book. O.o The first one was great, but this? Nah, not very good at all. Not horrible, but not good.

I'm starting to wonder why The Wonderful Wizard of Oz needed a sequel. This book isn't as good, and all these things Tip brings to life are getting weirder and weirder.

The illustrations are bringing back really vivid childhood memories. Much more so than the text (which seems to be infinitely more goofy than the first book). Perhaps I'm almost ready to try some big-boy subject matter again?

With Emerald City has been taken over by girls with knitting needles. (haha) The Scarecrow, Jack Pumpkinhead, and Tip set out back to the residence of the Tin Woodman previously owned by the Wicked Witch of the West. My daughter is really loving this book, and hoping she will like the other books in the series too.

My daughter thinks the conversation between the scarecrow and the pupkinhead, and the need for an "interpreter" is funny.
