The evil is defeated! Thanks Thorne for taking one for team Marius. Have to say, I really enjoyed it. Glad to see Marius isnt some pinnacle of morality, no, he is flawed. And with an ego the size of the earth. Ill be reading Pandora next since I need to know more of this beautiful enigma.

Welp. Marius made his bed. He said he’d leave Bianca for Pandora, now Bianca leaves him. Poetic.

So Akasha learned the Fire Gift from Marius. Fascinating. Just shows how powerful she is, easily dispatching Eudoxia as though she were nothing.

I admire Anne Rice for writing such fully realized characters. They have their biases and flaws, which they’ll admit to (mostly) and it just makes them feel so alive. Which is… ironic. Since theyre, yknow, undead.

I suppose Akasha did care for Marius. Well, as a master cares for a pet, I suppose. She is a loveless creature. Marius’ melancholy is honestly relatable. His obsession with the idea of Rome borders on comical, but he was reared by her. I can’t judge him too harshly.

It’s interesting to me that Enkil’s sole trait after his ascension to vampiric godhood is jealousy. Akasha, well, she is empty, hollow. A void that will never be filled by anything. But she allows others to feed on her. And yet Enkil despises it. Fascinating.

Ah yes the Christianization of Rome and its fall. I wonder where Marius will go from here

Thorne is a good new character, I like him. His melancholy is a nice fit for our dear old ancient, Marius. Im interested to see how this telling differs from what he told Lestat
