Descartes begins by explaining the purpose of his writing this text. He is going to attempt to break down all of his preconceived notions of the world, both those taught to him and the natural inclinations that one feels and put forth a method in which he can judge truth over fiction allowing himself to reconstruct a set of principles for himself to understand the world through. An interesting but slow beginning.
