Saw this when it first came out in 2012 and made a note to myself to see if I could pick it up 2nd-hand. Lo and behold it appeared on the bargain pile at Coles. Torturing the truth out of people struck me as an intriguing premise when it first crossed my sight line.

If not because it's midnight and I have to wake up at 4am to sahoor, I would swallow the whole book right away. I still can't believe I finished the second part in one sitting!!!! Carmine blew me away just like Geiger and Harry did in the first two parts :3

I don't know what I think about this. I'm very careful when I read torturers as protagonists novels. I can handle Pg-13 best, some R if it's campy or minimal, and I prefer the good guys winning in the end. So far, only bad guys seem to be involved, and it's not R rated, although kinda close. We'll see. I like dark plots, but I have limitations. I love Dexter, for example, but not books for sadists.
