Legends of the Dark Knight #132-#136

Seige - An enjoyable story that diped into the creation of Batman beyond the murder of Wayne's parents. Again, probably too many pages for the story it was trying to tell with a lot of speech text.

I liked the idea of a war in Gotham. I hope that premise returns as it really gave Batman and the police an interesting dynamic.

Batman Black and White #4

I loved Gary Gianni's artwork.

The story was intriguing. Unless I missed something, isn't a zeppelin possible the most obvious mode of escape ever? 😆

So now we know who makes sone of Batman's gadgets.

Batman Black and White #1

Artwork by José Munoz was a refreshing change, although a few panels were difficult to decipher.

The story made me think of Hellraiser with the trumpet replacing the box.

Showcase '95

Beautiful artwork from Gene Ha.

I'm not entirely sure I understood the story. I wasn't familiar with Wyndam Vane (should I be?)

Loved the mania this issue portrayed.

Detective Comics: Annual #3

Batman v the Yakuza! I thought this was excellent. Probably the best thing in this collection so far. Some of the fight panels were brilliant.

Manhunter Saga

An oddity for me, as someone starting out a Batman readthrough. The Caped Crusader barely features, yet the story is a lot of fun. Proper old-school. Clones, martial arts, deception, world domination. This has it all.

The Final Chapter was wonderful with no text used to honour Archie Goodwin's passing.

Who is the Manhunter bloke? Where the hell is Batman? Why are there so many text bubbles?

Detective Comics #442

I really enjoyed this. Incredibly old-school and yes, another morality play.

I liked Alex Toth's artwork but it is struggling to be seen with the plethora of text bubbles.

Detective Comics #441

These 'morality plays' are great fun. A little hokey, I guess, but enjoyable.

This one was surprisingly bleak in the end compared to what's gone before.

These are starting to feel like morality plays.

Another solid story which challenged my 'must embrace the silliness' mantra.

I like how this picks up from an event in Tales of the Demon.

A story with a message, kids.

Batman is beautifully drawn by Jim Aparo.

I really enjoyed this issue. Drugs, mystical masks, jealousy and superb Jim Aparo artwork.

Maybe I can be a fan of 'vintage' Batman.

Read the remaining Batman stories over the weekend, which included an appearance of Silver St. Cloud (IMO, Batman's one true love).

Read the first few Batman stories and the Manhunter stories.
