I can really sense the grief these cats feel. The book does a great job explaining emotions through dialogue and body language. At this point they arrived at their possible new home. They’ve encountered monsters and hostile cats. They are slightly skeptical, wary, and sometimes homesick. Even though they found a place with prey, they wonder if it is worth leaving familiarity and their home.
