I'm still interested, but I WOULD like a secret passage or a spooky, old mansion or something. ;)

Started this yesterday. Wasn't interested until now. Mainly because I read it once before years ago and didn't like it and I keep remembering what's going to happen before I read it.

I am really liking this book. The pieces of the mystery are finally coming together. Right now I'm about to figure out how she solves the mystery. The suspense is building up, and I want to keep reading.

This series was the beginning of my mystery phase and I've managed to to find some copies of the original books so I'm rereading again

I am not particularly far in this book, but Carolyn Keene uses very old 1950's manner. The lexicon in this book is very polite and simple. This does not make this a challenge but it is fun to see a different era of time and how they talked differently!

What time period is this even during that the police are just letting Nancy Drew go after robbers that had locked her up lol. Literally just "Okay good luck be careful"..

Enjoying the plot but the descriptions of the characters are a bit too simple and precious for me. It's like reading "The Brady Bunch" combined with "Scooby Doo".

I am feeling *very* nostalgic today. Revisiting Nancy Drew hits the spot perfectly!

It's kind of dumb at some times but can also be interesting if you ignore the other stuff.

Oh my gosh, the first line of the book starts with 'Nancy Drew, an attractive girl of eighteen...' oh my gosh...

Gone Girl was a semi heavy book so I really wanted something small and easy to read and I ended up reaching for Secret of Red Gate farm. I read another Nancy Drew book afterwards and now I feel like restarting the whole series hahaha help me #nancydrewforlife

I might of liked this series if I was younger. The dialogue was just too weird in it's execution. Maybe it was just Nancy talking to herself...but it was just odd.

OK so he doesn't *insist* but the scenario is just as problematic: "By this time she and the trooper had reached her car. 'Would you like me to drive?' he asked. 'Why—er—yes, if you wish,' Nancy replied." So he just is like, hey little lady, need me to handle this? Positive takeaway: the author saw fit to make Nancy basically be like, "WTF? I guess... Not like I can say no, man with a gun."

:( There is a random policeman who helps Nancy and says, "Not many girls would have used their wits the way you did." I wondered if I was overreacting to the 1930s sexism there, but then on the very next page he pressures Nancy to give him a ride back to the station...and when they get to her car, he--a total stranger Nancy does not know--insists on driving her car! What?!?! This guy. Not cool.

Nancy just changed a flat tire with such ease, it put me to shame. She is amazing.

I had forgotten how great Nancy's dad is and how supportive he is of his daughter being completely daring. He just warned her about how dangerous her sleuthing could get, and when she says she isn't afraid, he actually says, "Good! I was hoping you would say that. I'm glad you have the courage of your convictions." I'm starting to remember why I loved these books so much.

I have not read the Mystery stories of Nancy drew before, but have the case files before. I so far am liking it. I do not like the Topham sisters they are awful not just to Nancy but to others. Nancy is desperately trying to find a second will of a man Josiah Crowley who has passed away. The one thing that gets me is how friendly some people are in this book of perfect stranger. I am hoping that Nancy solves the it.

Nancy is such a nosy parker! ;P I guess all amateur sleuths are, but it just really stands out here.

Having never read Nancy Drew as a child, I have no nostalgia for it. Therefore, I can tell I'm going to have to remind myself that this is written for kids, and not question it too much. As an adult, I'm reading the first chapter and wondering why ON EARTH these old ladies are confiding in Nancy.
