On chapter 5 and so far the writing is not very good. The dialogue is a pain in the brain. Asher is a pain in the ass. He's rude and lacks respect towards everyone. Plot??? well....

Oh my gods I am so READY for the end of this book! Even as it nears it's end, it's filled with excitement and drama! Just over 60 pages left!

I'm so close to being done! I had to take a break for a week, but now that I'm back, I might binge read the rest of this. All I'm saying is that I knew he was dead, and I'm having doubts that another two are as good as they are on the surface. That's as much as I can give without being spoilery.

Finally on Part 2! It's been difficult to find the time to read this week, but all of the spare time I can muster has been put into reading this. It has a refreshing vocabulary, and I've had to note words that I've never seen before.

This book was highly recommended to me recently, and I have to admit that even the short prologue piqued my interest. I have a feeling that I'm gonna make this a quick read, even at 600+ pages.

Engrossing.

So far a very traditional fantasy with a country boy (a fisherman instead of the usual farm boy) is unknowingly a mage foretold in prophecy to save his people. He even impresses the prince and is given a cushy job after a brief encounter or two. All while being really rude and kinda a dick to everyone he meets, including the prince! Though I'm rolling my eyes about that, it's predictable, comfortable kind of fantasy.

If the bratty Fane were to have an ...unfortunate accident, I would not complain.

Loving this stroy so far! It took me a couple of chapters to get used to the main characters "voice", but now I'm hooked.

I was really into this before I forgot it at my parents' house 6.5 hours away last weekend. So far, a fun though typical fantasy adventure about a teenage boy from a fishing village who runs away from home to seek his fortune, only to get wrapped up in events and a prophecy bigger than himself. I can see where it's probably going, but that hasn't hampered my enjoyment up to this point.

It's been a struggle to get this far, but it looks like it's about to get interesting.

Scene of dialogue just happened that I allow to be considered quite good. And an allusion to a deeper issue to be resolved. Also good. But if anything, I'll keep listening because of this narrator. First impression was low. But he's earned my respect and I think I might even enjoy his reading. If nothing else, I think he fits these main characters well.

Hitting it at 1.5x speed now. Only going to try and listen a while longer between two reviewers I follow gave it good reviews. But something interesting or believable better happen soon.

Mediocre so far. Sometimes I have issue when a female author writes a main male character (or vice versa). When this 20yo youngest-boy-of-several dreams of making money to ease his father's life and says it would "tickle him pink" I have a problem. What kind of 20yo dude says that?? Was it written to be sarcastic? Didn't seem like it. Soon after, he's exuding serious 'tude toward a prince and it just doesn't vibe.

I just can't stop reading this. Remember, mixed reviews are just that, mixed! This is really great in my opinion.

I was hesitant going into this one as it has really mixed reviews, but I am really enjoying it! Obviously as I've read this much since last night.

Gar is such a whiny brat! Someone needs to smack him upside the head.

This was already good but got even more interesting! I have devoured the past couple hundred pages not wanting to put it down!

So far so good, nothing raunchy so far. And actually quite interesting!

I like it so far, but I'm afraid it is going to turn all gritty and raunchy like other recommended fantasy books. *coughgameofthronescoughnightangeltrilogy* Here's to a clean read so far ;)

End of part 2... Meh, kind of obvious that was going to happen.

I love the friendship between Asher and Gar.
