Glad I'm reading this. One review said that Egan's ideas overwhelm his characters, but I'm seeing the exact opposite. These stories are his most character driven works, that I've read. Maybe it's just the comparison to the novels which feature pages long math lectures.

A nice, thoughtful story to end the collection on. What a stunning book.

A story about a man's obsession to truly know his spouse. Starts off whimsical, ends sadly :(

So that's what happens if you mix pure evil, super intelligence and insanity.

Wow. That was probably the single best sci-fi short story I've ever read. That needs to be made into a full length novel, or a movie. Fucking amazing.

A tale of genetic paranoia. The themes tied together at the end and made me smile. I liked it.

Oh my god. I think that story just raped my mind. It's almost terrifying to contemplate the ideas Egan has come up with.

That idea was mindboggling but the story didn't really go anywhere.

A pretty dark story. I want to know more about the implants!

Great story about a different kind of madman, but the technology in it is very dated.
