I can’t believe this book is making me fall in love with a rolly polly 🥺

I know I've barely started but I'm not sure about this one... my brain is struggling with the size of the fairies, lol.

I'm enjoying this, but it's not nearly as stunning right now as the opening act was.

Now the story is moving! I love the vibes, the writing, the plot, it's just slow to move at first.

chapter 35 - 48 - “Oh my Gardener”. this is, at the very least, the best saving the world book i’ve ever read. so many emotions happening, like this is a debut? very first published novel? holy moly, the world is so alive and the characters are so real, the multigenerational trauma and story, the magic, truly oh my gardener. CANARY AND THE OTHER FAIRIES ARE (around) 12 ALSO LIKE WHAT, insane middle grade book

chapter 26 - 34 - this book is about how deep someone can affect the world, incredibly negatively even if they're perceived as a hero, this book is so crazy like holy poop... world building as amazing as always and just damn! also yay sapphic ppl :-)

chapter 17 - 25 - dang, grandma kinda sucks... letting whole civilisations die and keeping a bajillion secrets... kids really do change the world while adults push problems onto them, quite messed up, and this terrarium is ginormous if mole lineages can live here for 200 years. this is really good so far

chapter 8 - 16 - when the granny sus O_O how did they even get to the underlake so fast… also shrimp is a peak character, and now we’re gonna meet the final joining character i think… the newt… time to escape the terrarium in week day time :-)

chapter 2-7 - mold *is* scary, especially taking over the fairies. the inversion of fairies not flying is pretty clever, turning them into fairy dust. the world building is quite solid and really interesting. overall, excited to continue

prologue, chapter 1 - wow this seems really good so far, i really like the concept and the conflict is really interesting

so glad this is gay
