OK but these battles are really well done.

There's copious rape AND incest. A winning combo.

Wow, this is uh... Extremely time-bound in its "charms"

Only just started and have 2 things to say:

1. it is a life goal of mine to rent a long boat, sail up to my friends and tell them to get in, we're about to go on a Viking! and then sail someplace we can demand ice cream and grog! (For pay, of course, I'm more skald than berserker)

2. "He sailed West and had a great booty"
12 hours a day on a rowing machine? Yeah, I bet he did!

I just finished the book today.

Teetering on banal.

Obvious Tolkien ripoff, but historical fiction thread may save it.

the prose is kind of hard for me to process but i like the design of the elves

Very interesting so far. Really enjoying this book. Some flaws, but still quite good indeed.

The complications and ending in here remind me of Romeo and Juliet, only without Shakespeare's prose

But since they do not concern the main thread of the story, they must be left among the annals of faerie.Thus suffice it to say that Skafloc and Mananaan won out of Jötunheim and sailed south to the lands of men and faerie.

Not what I was expecting at all

I love how this manages to feel both epic and intimate at the same time.

The writing is so spare and lyrical and evocative. The audio narration is on point.

This is a great example of how succinct, clear writing has much more impact than miles of unnecessary prose or repetition.

Norse mythology and Vikings aren’t usually my thing, but this is pretty entertaining.

The story is quite interesting so far and is quite the page turner :)

Just started this book after finding it out in a bookshop 😊 The introduction seems pretty interesting and from the first sentence it is cleary influenced by nordic myths and legends.
