"One narcissus among the ordinary beautiful
flowers, one unlike all the others! She pulled,
stooped to pull harder—
when, sprung out of the earth
on his glittering terrible
carriage, he claimed his due." como me gusta a mi una buena relación problemática madre-hija con un poquito de demeter perséfone y hades... en fin, los retellings contemporáneos en verso supongo...

From "Demeter Mourning":
"I'll not ask for the impossible;
one learns to walk by walking.
In time I will forget this empty brimming,
I may laugh again
at a bird, perhaps, chucking the nest—
but it will not be happiness,
for I have known that."

"It's an old drama, waiting.
One grows into it,
enough to fill the boredom...
it's a treacherous fit."

don't cyber-jump me, but this is my first time coming across this poet lol. and i am mad i hadn't heard of her sooner, but i'm mostly glad i finally do. she's excellent, and the poetry picked up in quality before thirty pages. i'm impressed.
