Grateful for Tannen’s work in this book. She’s contributed so much to the field of interactional sociolinguistics however this book is highly accessible for readers who do not have a background in linguistics.

(p.s. not to say that introversion/ extroversion necessarily correlate with conversational style, but i am a bit scandalized to see how these patterns reflect onto my personal approach: typically high involvement, but i do find myself more high considerateness when talking with someone of higher social standing)

as much as i want to deny it, i definitely tend to exhibit high-involvement style more (a distressing realization for an introverted child but grew up around extroverts)

making reading progress but def feel like i need to double back and read some of the theoretical framework again

a bit behind for current class discussion but hoping to finish chap 2 on my commute home today
