Ah, the inevitable mention that the lost lover once drove a racing car. I’ve noticed such references in many of these old gothic romance thrillers. Must have been a fad amongst authors of the period. Wonder if anyone has ever done research or a dissertation on this 🆒 factoid. I find it very amusing.
