I read the "Textual Introduction". It is outrageous to think about how much power editors had in those times, considering the fact that Stoddart & his team completely changed this story, the meaning behind the written words & the message that Oscar might have been trying to get out into the world in a time where he & many others were not accepted simply because of who they loved. WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION.

I have only read the "General Introduction" but it has been very interesting to read about Oscar Wilde's life before diving into the story he wrote.
I salute Oscar Wilde for writing and wanting to publish "The Picture of Dorian Gray". The book was used in Wilde's court trials and that alone shows how much he risked writing this story and publishing it for the public to read.

so many things that Wilde says that make me white-people-smile at my book. "to get back my youth I would do anything in the world, except take exercise, get up early, or be respectable."
