Dorian is literally so comedy. I love him. So far Oscar Wilde has created something beautifully Shakespearean, which I’m thoroughly enjoying.

loving so far. turns out i don’t know many words..

Things I’ve discovered in the last twenty-four hours:

1) The uncensored version, while restoring text deleted before the original 1890 publication, is actually missing seven additional chapters Wilde added himself to update the novella into a full novel for its 1891 republication, so that’s a whole different book I get to read later

2) My copy was printed incorrectly and is missing thirty pages of text🙃

Mkay so basically Basil doesn’t want the titular painting to be seen by anyone ever bc he’s worried that he made it too beautiful and it will be immediately obvious to anyone who looks at it that Basil must be in love w Dorian based on how beautiful it is

I cannot stop thinking about one of the reviews under this that was disappointed that this book wasn’t smut and then gave it three stars but first fifty pages are like an intro and history which is fun

i'm reading the general introduction and thank god i am because it provides so much more context for the novel and just lore about oscar wilde i love it
