The atomists are really interesting. Aristotle gives credit to Democritus for the idea that the only things that exist are atoms and the void. Atoms are infinity, indivisible, and form ‘compound bodies’. Epicurus agreed that the soul was made up of atoms, and upon death are scattered, extinguishing sentience, and we cease to exist. Therefore, death is not something to fear.

Everything about the Presocratics and their weird ideas is explained, and how they do actually have relevance in revealing their thought processes. Socrates, Pluto, and Aristotle’s ideas are laid out clearly, and the different interpretations of these ideas too.
