Ah my favourite thing... having to read a paragraph several times to figure out the POV. How fun. NOT!

Civilian admits he's never fired a gun, cop still wants him to take it!! Is shocked civie has never fired one! So bizarre.

Cop just tried to hand civilian a gun to take on official police sting. I am only still reading because I want to see what happens with the nonromance. This sounds like it wax written by someone young, just out of the closet, who knows little about gay life and has a pre-conceived notion if what bigotry is like without any direct experience. Big chip on shoulder. All over the place. Everything inconsistent.

Cop says "gee," "darn," and "gosh." He's a well-respected detective at 26 after being a pro baseball player first. Bottoms are in charge of relationships? And gay guy is confused why straight guy knows all about blowjobs. A whole chapter was Jamie going on about needing gay cops. Little gems of writing pop out of this thick coating of bad which is why I'm still reading. Just odd.

Telling, telling, telling. All telling so far, only a tiny bit of showing at the very beginning where it was confusing. Pages of a news story then more pages of Jamie reminiscing. Good God get on with it!

So totally not getting into this book.
