Not really but, though it's only fun if you read a chapter or so per day.

Not bad so far

Definitely better enjoyed via the serial format--so that's what I'm doing: every day or so, I one-hand read a chapter or three, usually between chapters of heavier, more intricate, demanding books (currently, Barren by Anna Hedley). It does bother me, though, how all the prostitutes are young. What happens to them when they're older? Are their selves, their identities intact, past youth? Compelling characters.

Veritable carousel of characters and I don't feel like I'm getting to know anything of them well, more like a tasting.

I'm confused by the 18th century socio-political situation and the contemporary references creating this time meld.

I'm actually shocked how much I enjoyed the start to this series. It's not perfect, but the author really is quite talented.

Really good writing, which can be rare in this genre. Enjoying the story.

It's the first of the series, so I'm be patient with the setup. Enter the cop. Now things are getting interesting...

WTH! I want to know what's going on with Vincent! Why, why, why did the book end this way?

My respect for Charon just went way up. I hope he can protect Vincent *bites nails nervously*

Everyone protects and trusts Charon, but he's hiding something under that calm and cool demeanor. I don't trust him!

I have no idea what to expect with this one, but I'm definitely intrigued.

Did I miss something...no condoms in a brothel...WTF????

This is heavily featuring BDSM - principally not a problem, but it also includes rape. And that is not sexy at all. I don't like the overall atmosphere and underlying philosophy ("I am gay, so I can only be free and myself if I work as a prostitute" - really?). The characters remain pale and uninteresting - they seem to be determined and distinguishable only by their appearance and sexual preferences and reactions.

Un-freaking-believable. VERY good book.

The sounding is forgiven and forgotten. GAH, what a discovery this author is. I really am on cloud nine after too many meh-meh-ish books. Created a J.A. Jaken shelf while I was at it..pom pom.

Arrfghhh... I did not expect to come across an explicit SOUNDING scene... Argh! Hard limit alert! Hard limit! ...piece of sandwich stuck in my throat, nearly choking and goosebumps all over my body (the bad, terrified, angsty sort). Oh lord, what did I do to deserve this? It's all Elizabetta's fault of course.:p
