The protagonist doesnt expect that no one likes him. It's significant because he needs a date to the dance.

Greg, the main character, is trying to make his friend sign up for student council, but he lost. This one kid one and he was planning to change the toilet paper to an ultra soft one, which is the reason why he won. The school allowed kids to bring their own toilet paper from home, which is dumb because they should just change it.
