Status Updates From Italialaiset kengät

It would seem this is a series of four books in one. Just reached the end of the first book and it ended on a cliff hanger of sorts. I must say that if I’d encountered the individual books I would unlikely have read the full series as book one would not have had me anticipating to read the next instalment. I also discovered towards the end of reading this, that it’s a translation and that explains why I don’t enjoy

TW: This section was about this guy, remembering his days as a young boy listening to recorded testimonies of young men accused of rape denying those accusations and the women accusing them insisting on and he wishing to be one of those young men who did things to young women in the backseats of cars parked on forested paths. Also an encounter that his old flame had with one young man who raped her when she was young

Harriet is so mortifying!

The title, Italian shoes seems to make sense now that I have read the chapter where Harriet talks about being an apprentice to some Italian shoemaker and that she was actually working in a shop that sold Italian shoes because before, when Fred mentioned her working in a shoe store, he did not specify so it sounded like a general shoes store.
