Status Updates From Red Country

Ro POV! 9 POVs so far. Who could possibly want the children? The Prohet Khalul comes to mind but then again I remember all the Eaters had been adults, well except for Shickel that is. I couldn’t think of anyone else thoug. Blackpoint scares me. But I’m mostly scared of Shivers catching up to Ninefingers and killing him. He’s certainly capable of it now and Logen is older. I really hope that it won’t happen.

I want to know more about the Ghosts

That was brutal! Man, old man Logen makes me feel so bad for him. The way he keeps on making Shy promise him that she won’t get in his way and rightfully so. I believe he came close to killing her when she saved that guy from being hanged which was admirable but I was stressed knowing what I know about him when the Bloody-Nine possesses him.

A chapter with multiple POVs! So we only have Shy and Temple (so far) as the main POVs. And we’ve got Inquisitor Lorsen, Jubair, Brachio, Sworbreck, Dimbik and Sufeen (whom I quite like) so, 6 new POVs and 8 overall. Sometimes I feel like Friendly, I swear. And now Caul Shivers is here too and is looking for Ninefingers…it can’t be anything good now can it? I’m dreading the moment they meet.

It is interesting that Mulkova are rebelling. I guess it’s bound to happen. The tattoos were not a good idea though. I never thought the Union would commission mercenaries but they’re probably stretched thin. And of course they want to annex some parts of the Near Country.

Of course Cosca is here. And Friendly too. And many more familiar faces too; General (now) Brint, Superior (now) Pike, Inquisitor Lorsen (who was in charge of the penal labor camp that West got Pike and Cathil (among others) from) how far they’d come huh? Does Lorsen know about Pike? It is insane that he’s working with him now. Temple is an interesting character. Half-Dagoskan, half-Styrian and knew Kahdia too

It could be the Bloody-Nine’s past catching to him but then again Shy seems to have quite the bloody past too. The rumour of gold is going to bring around a lot of people and I believe that many of them will happen to know him. I wonder who Gully is. Why take the kids? It doesn’t make much sense. I’m so glad that Logen is back.

The moment Shy said “better to do it than live with the fear of it” I knew for sure that it is him. That and the “you have to be realistic”. And he’s wearing a glove and the Northman recognizing him. I can’t believe that Glama Golden is here too and fighting in the pit near Greyer. And he named their oxen Scale and Calder (that made me laugh). Who burned their farm and kidnapped Ro and Pit? And why?

Logen Ninefingers! Back again and going by Lamb now. Fitting for what he wants to be but I have a feeling that it won’t stick and it is sad. I’m so glad he’s back. It looks as if he’d made a quiet life for himself in the Near Country. I like Shy so far! And I wonder if that is her true name or if he’d given it to her. I really love this and I’m only one chapter in.
