Status Updates From Narcissus and Goldmund

(Ch 1) Interesting start! I like the contrast between Narcissus’ firm grip on his future and never messing up and Goldmund’s beginning at school when he got in a fight. I can see the Abbot leaning more toward Goldmund in the future since he said he was worried that Narcissus hasn’t gotten in trouble as a youth yet…we will see

I also like the beginning when it opens with the tree—a symbol of change. Hmmm…
