This poor woman just suffered and suffered

i’m so bored. this isn’t good 😭

this isn’t what i thought it would be… i’m actually boreddd but i want to finish it

i forget that this is from 1956 and it was normalised for women to be judged purely from looks

shock of my life that someone described marilyn who is known as the most beautiful woman in history this way. He had no reaction to seeing her for the first time, complete opposite from the men who described having their breaths taken away in that time period.

so this is the end of the full ‘my week with marilyn’ section of the book, which was enjoyable. i don’t necessarily buy everything that Colin Clark has to say, but nonetheless it was very well written.

The worst thing is to have all that clout but not know your own mind.

..but to me, the idea of someone as great as SLO, advertising something, is a shame..

Never trust that Hollywood crowd, Colin. The better you are, the more likely they are to stab you in the back.

"At the age of 12, I explained this to my father and told him of my determination to be a film director. My only worry was that all the directors I had met were fat and ugly."

The ending was nicely wrapped up

Geez Colin is obsessed with her and sees her exactly like everyone else. He idolizes perhaps even in worse way than the others. He thinks she's literally out of this world and needs a saviour.

I just keep thinking of the movie while listening. I can't think of the book as a memoir because then I wouldn't enjoy it.

It just seems like the author wanted to make money out of his first job working on a set of a film that staired Marilyn Monroe. It's very hard for me to believe he had close contact with her.

I liked the movie that was based on this book. Aaand the narrator is Eddie Redmayne who has a very pleasant voice.

Finals are next week so I will be making very slow progress over the next several days

Wow, Marilyn seems very manipulative and one of those 'oh I could have you if I wanted you' woman. I'm still struggling to stay invested in the book.

Found this at B&N, and couldn't resist. Great behind the scenes look at the production with Sir. Laurence Olivier. Even watched the movie on Netflix. Book has more details of course.

Really enjoying this behind the scenes look at the making of the Prince and the Showgirl. Gives a good look at Marilyn in the middle of her career, and inside the rumors of the trouble during the films production. Good for Mr. Clark to write all this down. Saves it for generations that will be thrilled to hear the story later.

I'm not enjoying the second book, My Week With Marilyn as much as the first, The Prince and the Showgirl and Me.. Will continue on though, it's still interesting
