There are some odd moments here…

Reading this bc of my writing class but I honestly kinda like it. It’s interesting that each chapter isn’t super interconnected, like each one is a different vignette about this family.

I didn’t realize how quick this would be!

This book is wack

All these vignettes paint beautiful imagery - the three boys and hunger being woven through in every single chapter. And it’s a hunger for everything and anything: love, food, life, care. It’s emotional and at the same time I’m left feeling “where is this going? How is it all related?”

This is the kind of book I love for the words that are used but when I ask myself these technical questions of: what is the goal? Motivation? Conflicts? I don’t know how to answer. I don’t know how I would write the hook for this book and I don’t know how to write a synopsis or query letter for something like this.

Oh god. Fuck. The prose is beautiful. I’m a goner.

This is a touching story but also fucked up.

I watched this movie years ago when it came out in theatres. It felt like magic to me. Unexpected, really.

I picked up the book now because I need a break from my long, long female centered narratives.

The book reads as nostalgic, like you’re reliving someone’s worst and best days but they’re shrouded in this kind of ethereal mist. Very sensorial writing. Enjoying so far. ✨

The characters felt so real in such a short time. It makes me wonder why I waste time reading books more than 200 pages if so much can be done in less than 150.
