you can tell how this was written back in the 50s just by how outdated his views are. this couldve been a great book if only he wasnt so homophobic and sexist.

If I am like everybody else, if I have no feelings or thoughts which makes me different, if I conform in custom, dress, ideas, to the pattern of the group. I am saved; saved from the frightening experience of aloneness.


This line really made me feel sad.
