it talks about how Nakri and her family are getting adjusted to their new life in America and how her brother Boran is still grieving for his dead sister Teeda. Nakri and her brothers begin school and are learning to speak english and play other instruments. Nakri then meets a boy named Tom.

It talks about how Nakri and her family is going to America to go meet up with her dad family. They soon arrive in America and are greeted by some american people and take them to the place of her dad family members.

It talks about her little brother Yann ankle is swollen and cannot walk, and all of a sudden they are being attacked by other military. After this Nahri and her mother take Yann to the hospital and Yann get treated there.

It talks about how Nakri and her family are now going to find another place for shelter; However when Nakri and her cousin saw that they were not seeing no progress and about to question their jorney another group of shelter provide food and other essential things.

Nakri is now catching up with what had happened when she and her brother and sister were gone.

The Akar army not fled due to being under attack by the Vietnams and now Nakri and her brother Boran are free from their grasp. Both go back to their homwtown Combodia to visit and then went to their grandmothers house

Nakri is slowly learning how to hunt for food and other essential supplies. However Teeda becomes very ill and the carde{slave holders] take notice and take her away

It talks about how Nakri and Teeda are getting weaker and weaker every day due to the lack of water and other essential items/food. Nakri decides to catch some fish for her sister in which she sucessfully did.

Nakri is now suffering from her cut eventually her sister Teeda found herbs to try to help the cut. However her brother Boran got punished for stealing food

It talks about how Nakri father is taken somewhere else called a camp and he never saw him ever again. It also talks about how Nakri and Teeda now have to work in the fields however Nakri gets a cut in his leg and is now limping and sick
