Dense but good. I see in these early pages that I jumped to some wrong conclusions in the previous books -- apparently human were already well into uplift of dolphins and chimpanzees before they made alien contact.

They appear to be preparing for war on the planet Garth, waged by a birdlike alien race the name of which I have, embarrassingly, already forgotten.
