Debut novel but clearly written in 1994. Feel like you can’t write like this anymore. Am I wrong?

After checking out the physical copy (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...) from the library and putting it down for other books, I've returned the very overdue hardback and am starting again with the Kindle version.

I still want to read this, but since I set it down around chapter three to read other books, I'll have to start it again.

A reread for me. I love this series not only because it's set in Boston ... it's excellent: dialog, plot, characters.

Pretty good — although I wonder why our hero cruises the mean streets in a very valuable (rare) Porsche. Perhaps it will be destroyed further on?
