This one is really sweet. I loved how playful Gerard was.

Oh my gosh I am loving this one so much more than the last one! Gerrard is super sweet and funny and personable and I loooove rescue plots. They strike a bargain for a marriage of convenience to get the heroine out of her controlling home environment. It's really fun so far.

Another widow? I don’t read the blurb, I like the feeling of discovering with the characters... but I wish this marriage of convenience was not with a widow.
And what's up with her quite old female characters in this series? Even in the prequel the heroine was 30+ (not that 30 is old, but back then, that was ancient for marriage and children).

A marriage of convenience in which the woman has asked for his hand. I little different in that, but I'm so looking forward to a little grovelling or at least for our hero to be knocked down peg or two. Evil smile.

Every time I think this book—and Gerard—is about to improve, something happens and I just have to roll my eyes.

“She had been patronized too often by Lord Howe and Lucien not to recognize it now.” And there it is. Good, I’m glad it was meant to come off that way.

There’s something about the relationship between Katherine and Gerard that squicks me out. I think it’s the inequality. Francesca and Edward were equals who respected each other. Gerard is clearly taking Katherine for granted and treats her in a way that reads a little patronizing.

FINALLY! A potential suspect and/or villain. Not to mention, Gerard has confided in Kate about the reason they are in Bath. Why he keeps leaving all day. Now their relationship is making more sense.

Started reading this over a week ago, got bored with it, went to something else. Now I'm back reading. Katherine & Gerard are married. They are in Bath and Gerard has discovered the letters were written at one time and mailed separately. Katherine keeps comparing Gerard to her first husband. Tedious day to day- where is the meat of the story??

Very well-done lovemaking scenes... props to you Linden
And to Gerard, can you just go ahead and write the damn letter this time? I know you can't, but still

Listening to the second in the series now. Same narrator as the last. His female voices fit better, but the nasally hero voice is off.
This is such a great one. It's a marriage of convenience story. Gerard is a sexy beast of a man, very compelling. Admittedly, I do have a soft spot for a war hero. 🤷🤷 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ what's a girl to do.

I'm putting this one aside, as I am losing interest in the story and the characters. I may get back to it--or not, We'll see,,,
