So far I hate the hero, Rafael Santana I hope bad things are coming for you on the other hand Nathan is a cutie patootie

This is the first time it feels like in a while where I've had the urge to obsessively read a book - I want to press pause on the day so I can read uninterrupted. I think Shirlee may end up being a go-to author for me, so far in both books I've read by her she delivers on spice, adventure, as well as the romance & emotion. Plus the BRs are well-written & she does her research on the historical period.

Amazon ed: "Staring at him, she asked, "Do you expect me to believe you have fallen in love with me?" "Love you?" he snarled. "No, English, I do not love you—I do not love anyone. But I want you, and wanting works as well as loving."

If the sentence: The violet eyes, dark with virgin passion, clung to his face, and Rafael's mouth twisted. isn't a quintessential sentence of the bodice ripper era I don't know what is. Has to be one of my favorite sentences that uses the term "violet eyes" I've read to date.

original edition: "It was Rafael who eventually tore himself away from her."

Amazon edition: "It was Rafael who tore himself away from her."

Shirlee removed the word "eventually" from this sentence.

It's these little changes that drive me bonkers.

The first spicy make out session is the same in both editions except for that 1 piece of dialogue

I was incorrect the sentence starting with "Later" is in both editions

omg this is annoying. The little changes Shirlee made, that don't really make a difference. Comparing the chapters is driving me bonkers. I'm going to stop and only check the risqué parts. The ocd part of me wants to check the entire book though

Kindle ed: "Elizabeth learned there are kisses and then there are kisses."

Extra sentence missing from original: "Later she was to remember shamefully that he never forced her after those first few times"

Original ed: "Elizabeth learned irrevocably there are kisses and then there are kisses."

Kindle ed: "Rafael's hands tightened, pulling her next to his tall length"

Original ed: "Rafael's hands tightened, pulling her against his tall, hard body."

this is pretty minor, in the next few sentences she removed the word irrevocably from the original, I prefer it with the word irrevocably.

Shirlee edited out a rather scandalous line of dialogue at 14% in the current edition on Amazon. "I intend to come a great deal closer, English, just as close as I possibly can." In the Amazon edition she took out the bolded part.

Rafael laughed out loud with amusement—amusement, however, that was not reflected in the silver-gray eyes. "I would love to please you, but unfortunately, life is too fascinating for me at the moment to contemplate such a thing. Perhaps next time we meet I shall follow your wishes, but right now, I want very much to waltz with the little one with a face like an angel."

heehee I'm able to imagine the MMC's voice as Javier Bardem's voice - it just came naturally. I'm not complaining. The only thing is again, Javier just comes across as so nice and friendly. Not as scary as what this man is suppose to be

Except Javier Bardem looks like such a nice guy. When I first watched No Country For Old Men it took me a minute to accept/suspend disbelief he was playing a bad guy. This MMC is definitely more menacing.

I'm imagining the MMC as a younger Javier Bardem. So far Shirlee's descriptions are A+ 👌 only slightly cheesy but not too bad

I'm seeing the n word several times in both the original edition and KU edition. Not THE n word, but the second n word. With Shirlee admitting to editing her books I'm surprised she didn't edit that out to be PC

I found the heroine dreaming of the MMC incredibly cheesy in Desert Captive by Penelope Neri, but I don't mind it here.
