Not a straightforward book about civil engineering! Started out a little too cutesy and 101 but I'm getting into it. A social/philosophical examination of our infrastructure systems as manifestations of society/civilization. Also, an appreciation of "charismatic megastructures" -- huge infrastructure like hydroelectric dams -- + the "systemic sublime," e.g., the sensitive balance of electrons in a power grid.
